2002 Honda Accord A/C

Postby Fournbr3 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 4:47 am

Did some repair work on my nieces car after a fender bender after which I had to replace the radiator and condenser along with the radiator support. The wiring harness to all the lights and A/C and horns was never cut, and all grounds are good. I went to charge up the A/C and after pulling the vacuum, I started putting Freon in but I could not get the compressor to engage. (It was working fine before the accident). Test light revealed no power to compressor. I checked power at the relay and I had power on one of the two relay plugs. Backtracing I found the cooling fan fuse blown in the under the hood panel. This gave me power on the control and power side of the relay and I thought that was it, but not today... I then checked the ground side of the relay and had ground on one side but not the other, when i jumper that ground with the relay in the compressor came on, I charged it up, it cools good, but when the jumper ground is pulled the compressor cuts off. Swapped relays with no luck. Does anyone have the wiring diagram that tells where the controlling Ground signal comes from? The inside panel seems to be working fine, everything operates and indicates it is working but the compressor will not engage. Any help is much appreciated!!! Gary

Ground signal is generally sent from the ECM or BCM. Fell free to request that diagram by email

Thanks Nacho, I found one from a friend. The ground comes from the ECM but I also found out that some cars have to have the ECM reset by disconnecting battery for a few. I'll try this when I get the car back. Thanks for the reply.
