Oil Capacity for Denso 10PA

Postby Z2TT on Sat Nov 21, 2009 10:55 am

Hi,

I've got a Denso 10PA Compressor, since the car is an Import I haven't been able to find a Service Manual, and the Manufacturer doesn't like to help me at all.

Would anybody know the Oil charge for a Denso 10PA?

Thanks.

If you provide full vehicle info, we can provide more accurate data.

I found that this car has the 10P15C compressor. On an empty/clean system, it would require 8 ounces of eithe Mineral or PAG oil.

I took the compressor out today and found that it has a Denso 10PA17C, Most websites seem to say 8oz for it too.

Just curious, where did you find out that the Soarer gz20 had a 10PA15?

Thanks.

The Soarer came with a different array of engine configurations. When you can't match the name to regular US-production or editions, looks for the equivalent models in Japan or elsewhere, then check the specs for the equivalent US model. The Soarer The Soarer is very similar to the Lexus SC430. You can find very valuable information in wikipedia. Oil capacity of the 10PA and 10P is virtually the same.

Actually the SC430 is the very late model Soarer, in Japan they called it the soarer, US the SC430, same with the SC300/SC400 in US, In Japan it was a Soarer (z30 series).

Mine is a z20 soarer, one from the 80's, never sold in US.

Thanks anyway, 8 oz it is.

Hi,

Would just like to ask another question.

I read this Lexus service bulletin

http://www.ccar-greenlink.org/documents ... 001l98.pdf

It says for the SC300 (Soarer), that 150ml of oil should be used, now that has the 10PA17 Compressor, Most websites say to use 8oz, but doesn't 8oz equate to about 230ml? So I'm wondering why does Lexus recommend 150ml.

Also notice that the SC300 and ES250 use the 10PA17 Compressor, however reccomended amount is 150 for SC300 and 100ml for ES250, which makes me think again does the oil amount needed change depending on the a/c system, even when your using the same compressor?

My Question is, even though a compressor may require 8oz of oil, does the car it is in affect the amount of oil needed?
I'd think if the A/C System was larger you would need to have more oil in the system in order to provide a decent amount always returning to the compressor at any given time to lubricate it. So I'm wondering, should it be more like 5oz in the system? Even though many people use 8oz, I'm just wondering.
