Hi,

I'm new here, but you are all the experts, so here is a question. I'm considering a purchase of a used 2000 Chev Cavalier, with a 2.2 engine. It has 125,000 miles. The current owner said that the AC unit worked okay last year, but this year it doesn't blow cold. As a layman I'm guessing the freon has leaked out. What could have caused this, and what are the potential repair costs, please? Need to know how much to potentially offer for the vehicle.

a 2000 Cavalier with the 2.2L engine uses a V5 compressor. These compressors are famous for leaking thrugh the shaft and body seals. We repair a lot of them every week.
