leak in condensor

Postby mchristiansen07 » Tue Jun 28, 2005 6:44 pm

I could use some advice or suggestions. I recently got my '97 Jetta back from the shop with a Freon leak after a failed recharge.
My confusion is how could there be a leak if the air work fine since I turned it on in April? It was fine until about June 16th when the air just wasn't cold anymore. I have never had it recharged before. Could it have sprung a leak during the recharge? I would appreciate any feed back so I can be intelligent when I have to go forward with repairs.
Thanks!

An old saying is that "everything works until it don't" With that said, pressures would be needed, especially if you can not find signs of the leak. Your car may have a bad refrigerant control valve (most shops will just tell you bad compressor) but pressures along with the temp taken at will confirm the problem, if it is the control valve..Hope this helps
