1996 Dodge Avenger

Postby cdawley4 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 9:54 am

Hi,

It has been a long time since I have posted here. I have a 1996 Dodge Avenger. When I hooked up my manifold gauges, both low and high side show about 30psi. I'm thinking the system still has refrigerant in it.

Based on what I have been seeing, that system is low on refrigerant and possibly has a large leak somewhere. I will have to get some UV dye into the system to tell where the leak is, if any.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Possible it has dye in it already. Look for a spit at a port for dye then look for even oily evidence of where leaking.

Stains on condenser would empty system from debris, evaporator's were more common on some of these you would find oil in the condensate drain tube now even not working or any place there are connections with oil evidence.

Don't forget to look behind clutch around shaft seal as well.

Static of 30 PSI if temp much above even 50F suggests it's effectively empty so leak should be clear,
